2024 Tokai MIJ ATE-101/THIN Breezysound Thinline Shell Pink Rosewood

A lightweight, semi-hollow take on Tokai’s classic Breezysound T-style guitar, finished in Shell Pink with a particularly dark rosewood fingerboard. Difficult to find outside Japan, this preowned JDM example includes its original Tokai gig bag. You will receive the exact guitar shown in the photos.

Condition

Excellent (very near mint) overall condition with very few signs of prior use. The pickguard still has factory protective plastic film installed. Original padded Tokai gig bag included.

The neck is straight, the truss rod functions properly, and the frets show minimal wear with plenty of life remaining. Electronics function properly.

A thorough multi-point inspection and professional setup have been completed including truss rod adjustment, fretboard conditioning, accurate intonation, pickup height adjustment, hardware inspection, and fresh strings. A new set of 10-46 roundwound strings has been installed. Setup preferences can be adjusted prior to shipping at no additional cost.

Description

The Tokai Breezysound represents one of Japan’s longest-running interpretations of the classic T-style electric guitar. Built around strong fundamentals, dependable construction, and musical responsiveness, it delivers the direct feel and unmistakable character that have kept this platform relevant for generations of working players.

The ATE-101/THIN takes that familiar formula in a subtly different direction. Instead of the conventional solid body, Tokai uses a semi-hollow 2-piece alder body with a traditional thinline-style soundhole. At just 6 lbs 3 oz, this example is notably light and comfortable, while its vintage-profile neck strikes an especially agreeable balance: substantial enough to feel reassuring in the hand without becoming cumbersome.

Compared with the solid-body Breezysound, the THIN leans slightly warmer and more open while retaining the focused center, clarity, and articulation that define a good T-style guitar. The fundamental character remains intact: notes have definition, chords stay separated, and the guitar responds readily to changes in pick attack and volume. The semi-hollow construction simply gives that familiar voice a little more space around it.

That balance is what makes the design work. It doesn't turn the Breezysound into something unrecognizable or trade away the directness that makes a T-style guitar useful. Instead, it offers a genuinely different variation on the same idea — enough to have its own character without sacrificing the things that made the original formula successful. Component choices are similarly purposeful, including vintage-voiced GOTOH TL-Classic α pickups, GOTOH tuners, Tokai’s traditional three-saddle-style bridge, and a Sprague Orange Drop capacitor. The pickups preserve the direct, dynamic quality the design calls for, complementing the THIN body's slightly warmer and more open character without sacrificing definition. Nothing here is complicated for complexity’s sake. It is a simple instrument executed with care.
